The new generation of "green" GPUs running on the Turing/Ampere architecture will be announced in the middle of the summer, Nvidia supplier claims.
Mining on Nvidia GeForce GTX 1180
The source suggests that one architecture will focus on gaming whereas the second one will maximise performance for calculations and AI. According to the leak, the majority of the GeForce GTX 1180 and 1170 models will have a new GDDR6 memory for 8 or 16GB.
The energy consumption of the new memory will equal 1.35W and the performance will be twice that of the previous generation. Unfortunately, the leaks suggest that the new generation will cost around 20% more.
Saying that we don't know for certain how much the new cards will cost. We haven't seen any price leaks just yet, but it's safe to assume that miners won't worry too much about the price. The cards will most likely be sold out immediately. A much bigger question for us is - what hashrate will the cards have when mining Ethereum or Zcash?
